Support sober driving in the Okanagan

Champions for MADD is our first virtual fundraiser conceptualized, organized, and run by our chapter. We are calling upon individuals to reduce impaired driving in the Okanagan by encouraging everyone to be champions in their communities. There are 4 ways to become a champion:

  1. Make a bid
  2. Attend the event
  3. Donate
  4. Drive sober

We hope you will us on October 15th for an hour of powerful keynote speeches, a live auction, and a musical performance. Best of all, it's to support an important cause!

It’s time everyone got the message that impaired driving kills.

Why donate?

Between 2017 and 2019 there were 3,050 police reported incidents of impaired driving in the Okanagan*. Since the start of the pandemic, some police services are reporting an alarming increase in impaired driving charges. We encourage Canadians to make the commitment to never drive impaired, and encourage their families and friends to do the same. Our lives are depending on it.

Champions for MADD will raise money to support the Central Okanagan Chapter's awareness programs, education and youth programs. Funds raised stay in our community and are used to stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime through our Victim Services Volunteers.

We have also pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Kelowna Professional Firefighters Association. Why? Because firefighters are among the emergency response crew to arrive on scene of an impaired driving tragedy. Their hydraulic rescue tools help save lives during serious vehicular accidents. We want to recognize local firefighters for their efforts in battling the wildfires while continuing to support impaired driving victims and survivors.
